You may remember a few posts ago I mentioned how I was making and decorating a special 50th birthday cake. Now I am not a professional cake decorator and the only cakes I have done before are ones for my kids birthdays. So when I was asked to do this cake I thought a while and said 'sure why not'.The cake was for my youngest munchkins school which was celebrating turning 50. It was cut at the school assembly. Went with colours of their uniforms - bottle green and white and decorated two school kids made from fondant in uniforms. The mm's around the cake are the colours of the 4 sports teams.
It wasn't the most perfect cake - the second layer was a little lopsided and the fondant icing wasn't as smooth as it could have been. The piped letters were wonky like a first graders writing but it did look cute and it tasted delicious too.
I was just relieved it was made and decorated and didn't fall apart!
