My Creative Space

Since I have been sewing up a storm (or more accurately a feast) of felt play food in anticipation of Christmas sales I thought it would be fun to set it all out and have a photo session.
So out came the platters, tea set, blue willow crockery (which I am slightly obsessed with) and linen table cloth.

Yes, I may well be obsessed with sewing felt food.  There is something though with toys that look life like though.  And this food looks awefully like the real deal.

Felt Food Photo Shoot

Today I have had a photo shoot of all of the felt play food available from Creative Wishes.  I'll share more when the photos are edited.  It did look delicious all set out on the table!

Cooking up a storm!

After being on holidays and eating out a lot hubby and I have come home all inspired to cook.  So that is just what we have been doing this week.
Steamed Pork and Rice balls.
These were declicious.  I remember having these as a kid but we called them hedghogs and mum made them from beef mince not pork.
I have a thermomix so my recipes are cooked in there.
But super easy and could be adapted to those without a thermomix.

Soak 200g jasmine rice in cold water for 30 min, then drain.
Chop 4 spring onions, 2 tbs water chestnuts, 3 cloves garlic and 3 cm piece of ginger.
Add 500g prok mince and combine.
Add salt to taste.
Roll into walnut sized balls and coat each ball in rice.
Steam balls until cooked.

Aloo Tikki or Lentil and Potato Patties.
Cook and mash 350g potatoes.  Add to potatoe mash 3 green chillies, 1/2 tsp tumeric, 1/2 tsp garam masala, 1/2 tsp salt.Cook 200g split red lentils and combine with 20g piece ginger chopped, 3 cloves garlic, 3 fresh chillies, 1/2 tsp cumin, 1 tbs ground coriander, 1 tsp salt and 50g peas.
Dust hands with flour and take a golf ball size amount of potatoe mix.  Place 2tsp of lentil mix in centre and draw potatoe over.  Roll each in breqdcrumbs before shalow frying.

Both recipes are delicious served with a dipping sauce of sweet chilli sauce mixed with lime juice and soy sauce.
Enjoy!

Holidays snaps

Holidays are over and kids are back at school.
I loved the break but as usual it wasn't nearly long enough.
We went away for a week and the big boys did this...
Now I want to do it too!
I was inspired by all the graffitti art.
We saw whales in the ocean and played at the beach.
We did a lot of window shopping and I have come home very inspired after feasting on all the wonderful arts and crafts.
I brought a few things too - handmade candles, photographs from a lovely gallery (they are getting framed so can't share), a lovely handmade purse.
The man selling them at the market was so passionate and proud about his leather work and so he should be because they were a work of art.

So now I am back home again and I am very inspired to sew and create.  Which is a good thing because my little Made It store needs restocking. I hope everyone else with schol aged kidlets enjoyed their break with them too!
