i Heart Gallery

The creative person is both more primitive and more cultivated, more destructive, a lot madder and a lot saner, than the average person. ~Frank Barron

Have you heard about i Heart Gallery yet?

I Heart Gallery is a gallery opening this very week with their grand opening tomorrow,Saturday 29th April, 2011.  They are at 643 King Street, St. Peters, Sydney.
They describe themselves as "Half art gallery, half op shop we are a young, vibrant, unique store with a surreal sense of humour and love of the bizarre. Put together by a ragtag bunch of misfits, artists, crafters and hoarders, I Heart Gallery is FOR artists, BY artists. We understand what it means to struggle to pay for your own materials, let alone trying to pay for gallery space, a market stall or expensive consignment store as well. That is why we want to offer fellow artists a more affordable venue to showcase and sell their work.

Our dream is to promote creativity, passion, vision and a sense of community in our little world. "

You can now find Creative Wishes Childrens Cloth books and other  hand created items there.

Now for a little bit of wedding goodness pop on over to Handmade Cooperative For Kids to check out items perfect for a royal wedding.

Just a reminder that Creative Wishes is having a week long sale and all items in my store are reduced.

Favourites

Every friend is to the other a sun and a sunflower, also.  He attracts and follows.
John Paul Richter
This week I have been chosen by Bec at Made It to be one of the five sellers who choose other stores favourite items to be featured for the week in the Picks section on the site.
So I thought I would show some of my favourites that I have chosen here on my blog as well. Maybe a couple each day for the week.

Sunflower Gift of Seeds by Sow n sow (cute name too).  Love the cute packaging and the gorgeous quote.  What a great idea!

Vegetable Bag by Tex & Joe. Cute and practical and you can also get an onion and a carrot bag.  I also love the gardener aprons in their store too.

Tea Cups

Tea to the English is really a picnic inside.
Alice Walker
I have some lovely old tea cups and saucers.  Some I have collected from the tip shop, some from op shops and garage sales.  Most aren't perfect.  They have chips out of them and some have cracks.  But they are all here in a box in the garage waiting for inspiration to strike.
While I am waiting for inspiration as to what I will do with my lovelies, just have a look at what others have done!  You will be amazed, just as I am!

Teapot lamp from Country Living.  Love, love love this so much!

 Tea cup bracelets.  Gorgeous patterns.
Hookmaker from Design Glut.  Must have one - can't say how much I love this.
Teacup mirror.  Can't go wrong with blue and white. Love the spoon and tea strainer added.

Braved the Show

There's no such thing as fun for the whole family.
Jerry Seinfield.

We braved the Sydney Easter Show, oh yes we did!  Crowds, noises, rip off prices and Sydney traffic are not my thing.  But after living in NSW for 13 years now and never ever having been there I decided this was the year.  After all we have done Lego land in Germany, Disneyland in Paris and Octoberfest in Germany so really the kids had to experience an iconic event in their own country!

Loved the arts and craft pavilion and the amazing crafts and decorated cakes.  DH was right at home amongst all the food in the Woolworths Dome. We all enjoyed the wood chopping and seeing the animals.  I hated the rides but sufferered there briefly for the kids - too noisy and not my scene.  But did go on the roller coaster so my youngest could also go (he needed an adult with him).  And even struggled through the crowds in the show bag hall while the kidlets chose a bag each.

Loved this display for My Little Cupcake - totally cute!
Back at home I was pleasantly surprised to see one of my Childrens Cloth books featured over at Cuteable,
Fruit Salad Book with fun pages and a bowl of fruit salad on the end page waiting to be discovered.

Vintage Love

Everything I buy is vintage and smells funny, maybe thats why I don't have a boyfriend.
Lucy Liu
I am such a lover of vintage items so here are some wonderful vintage finds from Made It

Pom pom hat by Dover and Madden. How very cute is the little model?  My son had a helmet hat like this when he was a baby and looked adorable in it.
Easter Greeting Cards by Collecting Feathers.
Tote Bag by Dreaming in Colours.  I'm not sure if 1983 is actually vintage because that would mean I am vintage and that is just depressing.  But still it is a very cute tote with a vintage feel.

Vintage Card and Gift Tag set.  I have such a love of Little Golden Books and the nostalgia they stir up!
Rain Splash by Citrus pop.

My Creative Space

Strange how a teapot can represent at the same time the comforts of solitude and pleasures of company.

A little while ago I had the pleasure of visiting Fernwood High Tea.  The food was delicious and served in a gorgeous old house with an adorable cottage garden.  We ate delicate, crustless sandwiches, delicious mini slices and lots of other gorgeous nibblies.  And of course drank the most divine tea from ghina tea cups.

Ever since I have had the idea of sewing a high tea felt play food set. And this week I finally found the time.
The High Tea for Two set is up in my Made It shop. There are delicate little sandwiches, sushi, cupcakes and chocolate slices and of course two tea bags.
It is so fun sewing with felt.  Now I am in the process of sewing another set for a special little someone.

A little bit of Vintage

It is easily overlooked that what is now called vintage was once brand new.
Tony Visconti

Loving giving new life to these old illustrations by Eloise Wilkins.  She drew the most adorable pictures of little babies and children with cute cherubic faces and pudgy toddler arms and legs. She illustrated more than 100 books including lots of little Golden Books.
