My Creative Space...

I am playing along with Kootoyoo this week and featuring my creative space

I have had a fun creative week with getting lots of sewing projects finished - more cloth books mainly.
I have also been making some super cute canvas wall art. I was lucky enough to rescue from the rubbish a whole heap of old Little Golden Books. Many of them had ripped pages or pages that had been scribbled on. But amongst the books there were plenty of pages unmarked and so I just new I had to find a use for them.

This is my first project with some of the pages. This set of three will be for sale real soon in my Made It shop. They just need a coat of gloss varnish first. They are from a book called Little Bears Bedtime - so cute and I can just imagine them on the wall of a babies nursery.

I have a few more projects in mind to use up all the pictures from the Little Golden Books. What fun!

Be sure to drop by Kootoyoo and share what you have been up to this week too. It is always interesting to go blog hopping and check out other wonderful creative spaces.

New Items In The Shop

Ihave been busy sewing this week. There is an animal cloth book with lots of textured material.s
Including this turtle with a soft smooth shell and the funny monkey below with his fuzzy wuzzy furry tummy.

They are all in my Made It shop, Creative Wishes.
I have also been working on something new for the store too and hopefully it should be finished very soon so I can share. It is cute and adorable and a little bit retro. Pictures will be coming real soon I promise.

My Creative Space

This week it has all been about papercraft in my creative world. I have been making cards, envelopes and matching tags for a few orders. I am loving the speed of making cards compared to sewing the little cloth books which tend to be a little more fiddly and time consuming. It is a great feeling to sit down and start a project and finish it all so quickly.

I have also been off to the local library this week to peruse craft magazines and books for a bit of extra inspiration. Of course I came home with a pile and with the chillier evenings it is perfect for snuggling under a blankie on the couch and going through them.
I am off to read what has been happening in blog land at everyone elses Creative Spaces.

A LIttle Break

I have been on a mini holiday and have come back with lots of treasures from my Nans old house. Nan never threw anything away and she was a collector. Her home was full of treasures as well as a good amount of junk as well. I guess growing up in the depression and with little money everything was treasured.

I have come home with suitcases stuffed full of treasures.
Lots of old lcothes, hats, gloves, lace, handmade baby lacy dresses. These all belonged to my great grandma and many were hand sewn.

Look at these lovely accessories - the hat and velvet scarf, little bag and leather gloves. Maybe these were her Sunday best.
I have also inherited these - they are salt containers called salts or salt cellars. Evidently Nan had a few and thought they were lovely so started collecting them. Some are from op shops, some from antiques or garage sales. They were used mainly in 1800's and up to 1950's before salt was refined enough for salt shakers. Many of them have cute, tiny little spoons.

Managed to find room in the suitcase for about half the collection. I will bring the other half back next visit.

The swans are lovely and aren't the little spons adorable. I photographed them next to a standard teaspoon to show just how small they are.

Oh, I do love old stuff and especially old stuff with family history and significance. I will share a few more of the things I have brought back with me next post. But still have unpacking to do and washing etc.

A Little Sewing

Oh, boy, I have been busy! Parties and sewing and shopping and organising. I have so many plans and just not finding enough time to do everything.

I have finished a few more cloth books. The snow man above is in one. Just thinking that he looks a little creepy with that smile in the close up picture!
I have listed another cloth book about the weather in my Made It shop. The first one got snapped up fairly quickly. I changed this one a little to make it with less small parts. The only parts on this book that would cause a choking hazard to under 3's is the little pegs and they can be removed and put away.

And more sewing on the go with a textured animal cloth book. The duck is soft and fluffy, the dinosaur is rough and scaly. I am aiming on finishing this one off today. Wish me luck!
