My Creative Space

This week my creative space is all about painting and pouches.
The pouches have been made because I decided the little fishies needed a home. So now the magnetic fishing games can be stored in the cute fish drawstring bags.
As well as pouches there have been more fish and sea creature being sewn. I now have sea monsters like the ones below, other weird one eyed underwater monsters, a lochness monster look alike, sea horses, squid and starfish.
The painting is exterior house painting and it is messy and involves putty and sandpaper and broken nails and rough hands. It has also resulted in me having the most glorious blue streaks in my hair. I seem to have a very slap happy way of waving the painting brush around resulting in bits dripping off and landing all over. At least I am painting a lovely cheerful blue colour called afloat which makes me dream of being on the ocean, sipping a margarita on a luxurious yacht somewhere - yeah right!
Ahh dreams are good aren't they!
What has your creative week been like? Pop over ato Kootoyoo and share.

Biddabah Turns 50

You may remember a few posts ago I mentioned how I was making and decorating a special 50th birthday cake. Now I am not a professional cake decorator and the only cakes I have done before are ones for my kids birthdays. So when I was asked to do this cake I thought a while and said 'sure why not'.

The cake was for my youngest munchkins school which was celebrating turning 50. It was cut at the school assembly. Went with colours of their uniforms - bottle green and white and decorated two school kids made from fondant in uniforms. The mm's around the cake are the colours of the 4 sports teams.

It wasn't the most perfect cake - the second layer was a little lopsided and the fondant icing wasn't as smooth as it could have been. The piped letters were wonky like a first graders writing but it did look cute and it tasted delicious too.
I was just relieved it was made and decorated and didn't fall apart!

It is not easy being green especially if you are a funny monkey like the one above.

Handmade Cooperative have featured GREEN handcrafted items for kids this week.
Green is my very favourite colour so I use it a lot in my craft work.
Be sure to pop over to the Cooperative to check out the over green handmade items especially made for children.
